Día de las Madres (Hispanic Mother's Day) is celebrated in many countries annually on May 10th.
In Mexico, traditionally adult children will travel home on the evening of May 9th to prepare for the upcoming festivities and to pay respect to their mother. They honor the strong women who made many sacrifices while bringing them up. She taught them that the love of the family is first and foremost in life.
In Guatemela, mamás are given a public holiday off work – this was established by law in 1968. This allows mothers to relax and celebrate themselves for all of their hard work.
In El Salvador, mothers are traditionally seen as the glue that holds families together. Salvadorans will often take a day off work for Mother's Day to travel to see their mothers and treat them to a meal, flowers, or gifts.
